Flyer to come but the homies at FU/Zen have confirmed that Total Eclipse is coming to NZ on October 16th. He will be played at Zen here in Auckland City. He is supporting Evidence (of Dilated Peoples).
I was too young when Total Elipse last came to NZ, so this is my opportunity to catch him again.
The following clip is of DJ Q-Bert Live at the St. James for the Scratch Tour back in 2002. The Scratch Tour was a world tour in celebration of the movie “Scratch” directed by Doug Pray.
The clip you’re seeing is when Q-Bert put on some Perspex safety glasses with a camera mounted on the side. There was a projector screen above him showing the audience what he was seeing. What you’re seeing is that very projection which the audience saw.
This is my ALL TIME favourite DJ gig that I have been too. At this gig with Q-Bert was Jazzy Jay and J-Rocc (Beat Junkies). J-Rocc was amazing and he is one DJ you have to see live to get how great he really is.
Found this on Youtube from the same guy who uploaded the TV interview.
This is Rhys B’s Elminations set from the 2001 NZ DMC Battle. There is footage of the final, but the sound quality is crap so it isn’t really worth posting up.
I spotted this awesome video today while surfing around Youtube.
DJ Shiftee along with Native Instruments (Traktor Scratch) using this as a competition for someone to win pretty much all their gear. DJ Shiftee is jugging 35 songs within 90 seconds. To be into win, you have to name ALL 35 songs and email them to Native Instruments.
It’s a Video of Rhys B doing an interview on TVNZ back in 1989 at the Wednesday Nite Jam. Amazing to watch when you compare DJing 21 years ago to present! Crazy!
Much respect to Rhys B who still holds down the decks around Wellington City.
Also shouts to my man Jaz who hosted the Wednesday Nite Jam on Radio Active for years. If you’re in Wellington, The Wednesday Nite Jam is still going, so tune in every week!
This mixtape is something DJ Reminise put out last year and has just re-upped online in the past week.
The Mixtape is titled “Respect My Gangster” and features tracks from the following Artists: 2Pac, Biggie, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, DPG, Kurupt, Mack10, Daz Dillenger & More.
DJ Sir-Vere appeared on the final episode (for 2010) of Hip Hop Central over the weekend as the DJ for their weekly Mad Skillz Segment.
He has a lot of good and honest things to say about some of the younger/new DJ’s who have popped up over the past few years. I tend to agree with him and certainly in Auckland a lot of the stuff he speaks on is going down week in and week out.
Have a watch (the interview starts at 20:28) and comment below on your thoughts of the segment.
My homies Tyson Tyler and DJ SMV have recently dropped the “Paperchase” Mixtape and it is nothing but straight heat.
Tyson is one of the most under-rated MC’s in NZ (In my opinion anyway) and DJ SMV is one of the best Mixtape DJ’s in NZ. These 2 guys have come together and made one hell of a mixtape! Check the Tracklist.
