Last week my crew the Villains and I got the opportunity to open for the GZA (Wu-Tang) in Ohakune and Welli alongside local DJ’s D-Rail, Affiliate and a bunch of other dope local acts.
Had an awesome time on the road and it was cool to be able to kick it with GZA and DJ Mathematics and shoot a video clip in Welli for JB’s new song “WAR”. Anyways, check out this little behind the scenes video made by Hitz of Funk Village/Villains from the GZA Tour show in Ohakune and JB’s video shoot!
Here are the results from the battle that just happened in the weekend…
Results:
1st Place – DJ Vajra (Platter Pirates) 2nd Place – DJ I-Dee (Trooperz, VA Allstars) 3rd Place – DJ Precision (Lo-Livez, X-Ecutioners)
The quality of the battlers was the highest i’ve seen in years, this DVD will be worth copping once its released! Congrats to Vajra and everyone else that competed and lastly big ups to Christie and her team for keeping the art form going and running what looked like a quality battle! Respect
Below is a great review by Billy Jam of how the night went…
“How long you been practicing?” host Lord Finesse quizzed DJ Immortal at last night’s 2011 DMC US Finals DJ battle before the talented turntablist launched into a six minute routine that could determine the path of his future as a DJ. “My whole life,” said the Florida DJ born Jamie Keogh, qualifying that ever since he started DJing at age 15 he has dedicated every spare moment to honing his craft as a DJ/turntablist in preparation for an opportunity like last night’s big battle…
As you all know the homie DJ Vajra just took out the DMC US Finals in the weekend and will be travelling to London in October to represent the US in the DMC World Finals!
The footage of his routine probably won’t pop up online until after the World Finals or unless he uploads it himself as I know the organisers are very strict on making sure there is no filming at the event.
So click on the video below to witness the fitness and see what the homie will most likely be bringing to the World Finals stage. Shit is mad dope and will be good to see that “hiphop” flavor back in the scene!!
This is a mixtape I put out in 2006 called Pick’N'Mix Vol. 1. I’ve finally Ripped it to Mp3 for you all to download and listen too. I do aim to do more, but I haven’t done anything about it (as yet).
This mixtape wasn’t possible without the help from one of my best friends Ben a.k.a Jyeah who is the engineer at the Red Bull Studio. His time and patience was priceless while I was making this mixtape. The fuckin’ man!
The Cover Art and Tracklist Art was done by my bro Pauly Smallz. If you want work done visit http://www.krispdesign.co.nz/

Tonight sees the opening of the Canteen DJ School which is run by the homie DJ Spence.
A lot of us would have had something to do with Spence during his years at the DMC Store in Auckland City (before it was re-branded as Mix Foundation). He is now the program co-ordinator at the Canteen DJ School.
Tonight is the grand opening and will surely be a piece of NZ Turntablism History that you won’t want to miss. I’ve never seen a line up in one room for a jam and it’s all for charity (which is fuckin’ awesome!).
Everyone is welcome to come along. Check the details below! See you there.
If you're wondering what DJ Impact has been up too, well now you know. He is the DJ for the Hamilton based crew Villains.
The Villains are basically a Wu Tang style collective of all the hottest MC’s & DJ’s in Hamilton City. One of the artists JB is releasing a solo album within the next month or so and below is the 2nd leak from the album titled “War”. This track features my bro DJ Impact lacing a dope scratch hook and outro.
This track is free to download. Click on the Black Arrow on the right hand side of the player below. Check it out!
So my homie on Twitter DJ Leon Smith dropped a mixtape last night called “Ignorant Shit”. Leon DJ’s in a Strip Club in Sydney called Bada Bing and quite possibly has the best gig EVER.
