The DMC World Finals!! – VIDEO FOOTAGE!
Right, so Video’s have showed up on Youtube. DMC are working hard at pulling everything down as fast as they can in order to make people buy the DVD. A bit stink I know, but these videos feature the finalists of the 2 battles which took place over the weekend in London.
First one is a highlights type thing of DJ Fly and a few other DJs. Fly won the 6 Min showcase. The 2nd video is the 2nd round of the Surpremacy Final between DJ Nelson and DJ Switch. DJ Nelson on the left and DJ Switch on the right.
Nelson had the euro styles going on, but Switch had the Wordplay and he had the killa James Brown juggle.
Anyway.. Check these videos out and tell me what you think because I’m keen to hear everyones perspective on the videos. As they say, different strokes for different folks.

It seems now that you need to have custom vinyl pressed in order to place in the DMC these days. While its something unique and fresh, it is some what of an unfare advantage as its not available to all djs. Skills should prevail regardless but it helps to have a bit of showmanship that gets the crowd on your side.
Coma was dope and the euro style is starting to get a lil played out now. but I think the Japanese have their own little style thats starting to develop. I still think Dj Dexter from Oz was the last real original dj in the DMC. He created his own format and didn’t follow what was the in style at the time. Others have tried to copy but never pulled it off cleanly.
Oh and Switch won hands down the crowd felt him a lot more.

I dunno if I agree with you on the custom buzz. Anything is available to everyone with the internet and a credit card. If you don’t have neither, then damn.
I haven’t noticed too much different with the style the japanese Dj’s have been on. I guess the best person to ask is CXL. He’s been spending a stack load of time over there recently. I’ll keep an eye on on Jap DJ vids and maybe watch Coma more when the DMC 2008 DVD rolls out.
I think you’re right about Dexter though. I really liked Dexter’s routines in the DMC’s even though his buzz was really weird. That Avalanches shit is weird, but cool too. Frontier Psychiatrist is bad ass.
Impact reckons Slyce was next to amazing, considering his 2008 USA final routine was way different compared to his 2008 World Final Routine. I’ll try and get Impact to do a review/summary for me to post up on here.

japanese djs do have a weird almost computer-game sounding style for routines. Japan is the best place for scratching and turntable shit…and girls too…

Hardout. If I find some i’ll throw them up. Once the worlds DVD is out though, they won’t care about youtube as much. Youtube certainly fucks up their DVD sales though.

Thanks that would be much appreciated. First year the videos seems impossible to find. I’m sure they’re on youtube but with a cover up name making them impossible to find if we don’t know what to search for.
