Yeah that pisses me off. If you search through bebo, myspace etc. there a thousands of "DJs", yet, they have never ever touched a turntable or mixer. These days, knowing how to use MixMesiter and ACID Pro automatically qualifies you to call yourself a DJ - bull shit.
And a mixtape aint the same without the cuts, scratches and the bad ass techniques using the deckz. I know heaps of people who download scratches off limwire. what a load of shit!

Me & a few of the homies are guilty of this, though we did reference it as a "Street Album" also, it kind of sounds eats to an emcee to call something a "compilation" or attach "album" to the work when its made available for free or been hustled out the boot of your car as opposed to been pushed retail. When we calll it a mixtape (I say we, cause I think this will apply to other emcees? maybe not) , its cause its a mix of songs that aren't necessarily 100% ours eg. their collaborations or remixing someone elses work, mix doesn't just refer to a DJ mixing records, but the re-mix, & mix of talent. I fully hear you though Joe, maybe I'll never call it that again, or just never allow it to be released without some handy work from a DJ. Either way, I don't think its like intentional, just like some rappers probably get sick of another DJ putting his audio marks/screams all over the record, why can't he just do it @ the start or the finish? LOL everyone has their own reasons & considerations huh.

Dunno?

But what pisses me off is them computer geek dudes who have never touched a turntable or cdj let alone mixer their whole life, that make "mixtapes" with nothing but their PC a bunch of "Scratch Samples" with built in rubs..hahaha

Acid-beatmap-scratch samples and there you go DJ "Insert name"s latest mixtape. Damn real easy to climb the ranks these days, with or without a setup...haha

Think im off track but yeah whocares.. haavfyyte

Looking foward to the mix comp @ Rotar nats nek weekend though should be mean.
