DJ CXL Appreciation Post – Part 2

In my previous post (DJ CXL Appreciation Post – Part 1) I mainly spoke about CXL’s DJ Routines and battle career. In this post I’ll like to talk about his mixing.
CXL’s mixing is the shit. The guy is usually on point and on fire everytime (apart from when he is completely smashed haha) and always delivers in the club or on the mixtape. The way he intergrates scratch breaks into the live scenario is something a lot of DJ’s can’t do cleanly, but somehow he manages to nail it cleanly each time. His style of mixing is sometimes a lot different of others, as he incorporates a lot of turntablism into his mix sets. One example is mixing in songs with breaking up the bass and snare of the song and drumming in just before he drops the record. That kind of stuff is always something which is cool and seperates him against the rest.
His Mixtape game has been tight pretty much right through is career. He has done various mixtapes for Dawnraid Entertainment, Red Bull New Zealand, and other organisations as well. Each mixtape has been enjoyable to listen too and have always included heaps of new tracks and exclusive freestyles. Every turntablist in the country probably cringes and calls him a cunt at every scratch break because that shit is way to clean and on point.
CXL has recently re-launched his website, and has a dope news letter service you can sign up for. In that Newsletter you can choose various things you want to receive updates on (Video, Tracks etc.). Check it out!
Anyway with thanks to CXL here are 2 mixes he has uploaded recently. Download them and enjoy!
