The 4 & Rotary DJ Battles – Mai FM DJ Quest & Juice TV Battle Of The DJ’s (RESULTS!)
The battle yesterday was mad cool, but also mad unorganised. I have confidence in Daryle that next time things will be different, however time will tell. The results were the following:
Mai FM DJ Quest Results (mix):
1st = C1
2nd = DJ Freez
3rd = Some house dj (apologies for not knowing your name)
Juice TV Battle Of The DJ Results (tablism):
1st = DJ Impact
2nd = DJ Spell
3rd = DJ Lenski
The tablism battle was pretty tight and really close to call. In the end Impact took it out over Spell and he took away a Panasonic Head deck for his ride. Lenski has some bad cuts, watch out for him in a scratch battle- he’s tight.
The mix battle was a decent battle as well, with C1 absolutely schooling everyone on how to do it. He fucked that shit up completely and killed it. Props to you bro and enjoy your head deck. I missed Freeman’s set, so I don’t know how that went down (apologies bro- thirst and hunger kicked in). I don’t know much about house music, so I don’t really have an opinion on that guys set (the guy who came 3rd).
Speaking on myself, I thought I had a decent set lined up but fucked it up by going to the wrong side on Serato a couple of times by accident. Guess some Nerves got the better of me while up on stage. If I didn’t do that, it would have gone waaayyy smoother. I might record and upload my set as how it should have been for you to listen too. I am really dissappointed in myself about how it went. It’s purely my fault though for not thinking straight while being up on stage. Once again…. Next time I guess.
A few bitches about the battle:
We were providing entertainment at the 4 and Rotary Nationals and we had to pay to enter the battle for a head deck worth $69.00 (thats how much they were @ Rapid Radio’s stand). I am guessing 4 and Rotary Nationals wanted Daryle to make us pay to get in, rather than letting us battle and provide spectators entertainment on the main stage in the Logan Campbell Centre. If this is the case, then I have never come across an organisation as tight ass as them. That is straight wack! If there is another reason for it, then please explain- I have difficulty in understanding why we had to pay for entry.
Daryle, no disrespect- you should have collected the cash at the beginning. Everyone thought that we were sweet and some of us bought food and drink on false impressions. Some of the bros couldn’t afford it in the end but were prepared to pay up at the start.
I also would like to question the timing. I think the stopwatch was a bit fucked, because DJ’s weren’t given their 10 mins on a few occasions and in the battle rounds some of the DJ’s only got 90 seconds compared to two mins. One of Impacts rounds was timed to 2 mins exactly and was cut off before the final segment of one of his rounds kicked in.
Anyway, thats enough of me- I am looking forward to this battle next year. It should be way better, more organised and finish about 3 hours before it did.
PS: The Head decks given away weren’t shit. They have an auxiliary port on the back for plugging in an ipod or a media player similar.

Congrats to those who placed in both comps & those who entered as well. Hopefully the organisers will learn from this and figure out how to improve the comp for next year.

Good on everyone for entering and congrats to those who placed! Shot for Mista P for the footage too. I actually though Wil. K won that battle…but then again I wasnt there so it may have looked different to the judges.
And what the hell was up with Spells ONE MINUTE set?? I didnt pass School C maths but Im sure 1 min + 30 seconds = 90 seconds. On my clock he got 1 minute + 13 seconds???? Either or….that aint 2 minutes.

Shot Spell good to see hungry cats putting in work to keep pushing the level over here, good stuff man! Stay with it.
I expect ther’l be alot of cats entering DMCs and other battles this year. If you are thinking bout it battling this year, start practissing & building your 6min set or battle routines now bradaz!
The bro Impact is where the level is at, IMO he’s miles ahead of the pack (Of cats who are currently battling) judging from last years DMCs (Myself included)
Hope to see a few “Spells” rocking DMCs this year, I hear a couple oldskool tablists are keen on jumping in this year too…hahaha “Haav Fyyte”
