New Zealand- Stand The Fuck Up For Yourselves!
This week is Black Out Week for kiwis on the web. I recommend you support this cause whole heartedly and make some noise to everyone you know about it because the new ammendments to Section 92a and 92c are fucked up, unfair and completely unjustified.
The law which comes into effect (lets hope it doesn’t) on February 28th will mean that anyone could have their internet cut off because you’re accused of downloading shit. The punishment will only happen to repeat offenders, but if your ISP thinks you’re downloading information which is copyright then you’re instantly guilty, and they’ll cut your net off. You don’t have to provide any proof or evidence- if they think you’re doing that, then thats it. Of course by the looks of things there is a “strike” type policy where you’re given chances, but that doesn’t cut it.
How is the DJ community affected?? Well… If you’re given songs/music by record label reps, A&R’s etc.. You will find most of them are using a media service such as Zshare, Rapidshare, Megaupload, Sendspace etc. Anyone is open to uploading files to these services. If you’re heavily downloading Legal Music from a service like this and they think you’re breaching copyright after being given warnings (of course you would ignore it because you’re innocent), then they’ll cut you off and there will be sweet fuck all you can do about it.
I recommend you check out the following links, sign the petition if you haven’t already done so and support Creative Freedom New Zealand, because they’re practically your voice about your thoughts on the copyright ammendments which the government are putting in place.

I’m sure it wont be as bad as it sounds. Think about it, will ISP’s want to lose potential profit just over little downloads? I reckon the only people that will be affected are the real heavy heavy users (Movies etc.)

Yeah, but thats not the point. Your guilty upon accusation. You don’t get to defend yourself and get a fair trial in court. If they think you’re breaching copyright laws.. then you’re guilty.. no questions asked.
Where is the justice in that?
