4 Years Today Since J. Dilla Passed On

Man time flies. It’s been 4 years since J. Dilla passed away from TTP (Blood Disease). I ain’t gonna front like I was the biggest Dilla Fan because I wasn’t. He did produce a lot of music I liked, and funnily enough- I didn’t know Dilla Produced it or paid much attention to the production credits (pretty much most of the Slum Village tracks I liked).

Two things that did cop my attention was the Champion Sound LP by Jaylib. Jaylib was a crew consisting of J Dilla & Madlib. One production which I find awesome is “The Red”. I am sure a lot of Dilla fans will agree with me too.

Jaylib- The Red:

Now to the Turntablist part of this post. J.Rocc of the Beat Junkies used to be the DJ for Jaylib and back in 2003 he put together this mix as promo for the groups project. This project was also pressed into a 45 by the Stones Throw label too. Good luck finding that! See below for the download link.

PS: To all the people who wear the “Dilla Changed My Life T-Shirts” and didn’t know who he was until he died…. Go and hang yourselves.
