DJ Sir-Vere’s New Show On Mai FM

My man DJ Sir-Vere has a new show on Mai FM every week from Wednesday – Friday on “Drive Time” with my dude Hayden Hare called “Major Flavours Radio”.

I listened for the first time tonight and I really liked what I was hearing. I will admit, it is kinda like when Sir-Vere and I were doing Late Nite Hype together, but in a more prime time slot and shorter period of time each day. A lot of NZ Artists will benefit from this segment of “Drive Time” as the time slot will give a lot of people a lot of exposure to a greater audience.

Tune in from 6pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday on Mai FM 88.6FM in Auckland City or online at http://www.maifm.co.nz.

Shouts to the brothers for doing the show… Sounding gooooooood! :)

Scratch 22 & Paydirt Live

Below is a recording of Scratch 22 and Paydirt Live on 4 Turntables (2 decks each) at Cassette Number 9 in Auckland City.

These guys recorded this live in July last year and have thrown it up online for listening and download. The ARC Team (Scratch 22, Legal Money Mike & Paydirt) are heavily under-rated at what they do, so check this shit out! If you like what you hear make sure you try to check them out at some stage soon! You won’t be disappointed.

4 Years Today Since J. Dilla Passed On

Man time flies. It’s been 4 years since J. Dilla passed away from TTP (Blood Disease). I ain’t gonna front like I was the biggest Dilla Fan because I wasn’t. He did produce a lot of music I liked, and funnily enough- I didn’t know Dilla Produced it or paid much attention to the production credits (pretty much most of the Slum Village tracks I liked).

Two things that did cop my attention was the Champion Sound LP by Jaylib. Jaylib was a crew consisting of J Dilla & Madlib. One production which I find awesome is “The Red”. I am sure a lot of Dilla fans will agree with me too.

Jaylib- The Red:

Now to the Turntablist part of this post. J.Rocc of the Beat Junkies used to be the DJ for Jaylib and back in 2003 he put together this mix as promo for the groups project. This project was also pressed into a 45 by the Stones Throw label too. Good luck finding that! See below for the download link.

PS: To all the people who wear the “Dilla Changed My Life T-Shirts” and didn’t know who he was until he died…. Go and hang yourselves.
